Vista and DSM plugins
Vista and DSM plugins
Hi,
Hi, sorry if I post wrong, I can't find the clue to my problem...
Under Win XP, I'm used to use UVNC 1.02 with MSRC4Plugin. Everything's ok with this...
But I can't do this with Vista.
Witch plugin that is Vista complient should I use in replacement ?

It depends on the moment...
Some DSM plugins work sometimes under Vista.

Re: Vista and DSM plugins
Ok, thx for the response.
Will the final release of the 1.04 version have MSRC4Plugin included like 1.02 ?

Possibly. It depends the solution we find for the DSM/Vista issue...

Re: Vista and DSM plugins
If possible, use the MSRC4 1.2.2 plugin (the latest released on DSM plugins web site)
It seems to work fine under Vista.
No configuration problem, no loading problem... just works.
I'm trying to make the AESV2 plugin work as well.
Next upcoming RC5 should give better results on DSM side under Vista, especially with viewer's autoreconnect mode.

or
Vista: stop/start service uvnc_service on Vista is OK

Re: Vista and DSM plugins
[s]good news:[/s]
no crash anymore even on WLAN not blocking anymore.
work around
stop uvnc_service
rename MSRC4Plugin-122.dsm ---> msrc4plugin.dsm
(to do on viewer side + server side)
check the ultravnc.ini (only if ultravnc server 1.04 or higher is installed)
DSMPlugin=msrc4plugin.dsm
start uvnc_service
then you able to restart viewer for reconnect to server even after lost connection
failed,
while connection lost, server retain connection for unknown reason.

Re: Vista and DSM plugins
Rudi found another bug
dsmplugin need read/write access
on vista is'nt possible from factory to folder \program files\...
work around
run as administrator the shortcut of vncviewer listen encrypted
"%programfiles%\ultravnc\vncviewer.exe" -dsmplugin msrc4plugin.dsm
this will allow dsmplugin to load with read/write permission to folder.
this applicable for all dsmplugin:
msrc4plugin.dsm
arc4plugin.dsm
aesv2plugin.dsm

Re: Vista and DSM plugins
Dear community I really need help on this strange case:
Both sides have same MSRC4Plugin.dsm and rc4.key with same MD5!
UltraVNC - 1.0.5.3
I have SC solution which use DSM and RC4
Server Side: SC solution with thees files in compiled SFX exe:
- winvnc.exe
- vnchooks.dll
- background.bmp
- logo.bmp
- MSRC4Plugin.dsm
MD5: F276CC99FE7FEB37055F0003BA283646
Size: 16.0 KB (16 384 bytes)
- icon1.ico
- icon2.ico
- rc4.key
- helpdesk.txt
OS for viewer: Windows XP SP1/SP2/SP3 x86/x64 it works
for x64 only I change the Plugin with this one:
MSRC4PluginX64.dsm
MD5: B700546CD8E9343E7B985161AE31A9F8
Size: 74.5 KB (76 288 bytes)
PATH: C:\SUPPORT with R/W access for all users
BATCH: start vncviewer.exe -listen 5500 -dsmplugin MSRC4Plugin.dsm - loglevel 10 -logfile session.log
The BATCH is in the same folder of VNCVIEWER!
SHORTCUT: "C:\support\vncviewer.exe" -listen 5500 -dsmplugin "C:\support\MSRC4Plugin.dsm" -loglevel 10 -logfile c:\support\session.log
Both start types above are working fineand till I try viewer on Vista!
So the problem/error occurs when I try to start initiate session from XP machine to Vista machine.
OS for viewer: Windows Vista Ultimate w/o SP
Connection Failed - Error reading Protocol Version
Possible causes:
- You've forgotten to select a DSMPlugin and the Server uses a DSM Plugin
- The selected DSM Plugin is not compatible with the one running on the Server
The same problem is described here:

I try Run As Administrator, but nothing change!
