Compaitible with WinXP 'Remote Assistance'

Post by badger »

Hi All.

I use win98se, and wondered if UltraVNC could be used to give 'remote assistance' over the internet to people using WinXP?

Thanks,

thankyou.

I realised I may not have made myself clear; what i meant was if I was using UltraVNC, and they didn't have UltraVNC installed, but they were using the 'remote assistance' feature of winXP, I'd still be able to control their pc?

Thanks again,

Tim

no, you can´t. You need to run winvnc server on the remote PC to control it.

Thats a shame.

Does anyone know of any software that will allow me to control the 'remote assistance' feature of winXP without upgrading to winxp myself?

thankyou anyway,

Tim

I can't guarantee you this will work, but try to copy

mstsc.exe
mstscax.dll

from XP both into the same directory (or into path)
and start mstsc.exe from that directory.

remote assistance

Post by Chaps »

Hello Badger,

every windows system can take control of a winxp system. U just need to install the client on ur windows 9x, 2000. u can find this client on a winxp cdrom or download from microsoft.com.( http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/down ... entdl.mspx )

At the contrary, there is NO way to control a windows 9x,2000 FROM Winxp with the "Remote Desktop" of Microsoft.
