Has anyone found a workaround for Vista Media Center?

Post by dengit »

Of course, im not trying to watch tv through vnc, but i have a great need to adjust settings and set record times over my network. i can use MSNTV guide to set record times, but its terribly buggy and even when it does work i cannot change settings in media center. sometimes i need to, today msn guide told be that my media center box had an out of date program guide, and i need to get into media center's settings and update the guide myself i guess. for now i just go downstairs and use the box itself, but im looking to be much lazier.

i found one thread about this topic yet it was related to mce2005 and was about 9 months old. if you disable the video hook driver, you can use mce2005 with vnc, but vista's media center actually seems to like the video hook driver- even though no configuration i try actually works. sometimes, i can set it to raw, black and white and i can get into the menus, but its very sporadic and completely unreliable.

thanks for the help in advance, ultravnc is GREAT software
