SC or PChelpware for this situation?ADSL/router

Post by dado023 »

hi all :)

here is the situation i am dealing with:

me@home: behind Elcon ADSLmodem(router/firewall) with dynamic IP adress(changes every 24h) 1000down/256up connected with my lan card

my brother@work: internet center(not so secured) is also behind Dlink ADSLmodem(router/firewall) 5000down/512up with dynamic IP, conected to main asus lan hub and his PC is also in that LAN.

short story:

myPC>ADSLmodem(/router/nat/firewall)(dynamicIP)>>>ISP<<<ADSLmodem(router/nat/firewall)(dynamicIP)>hisPC

i need a solution to work without portforwarding because he cant do portforward because Adslmodem in internet center is password protected

i was reading the forum and i see SC cant beat pchelpware if portforward is the obstacle, but i am not sure. I need you to give me the straight answer SC or pchelpware is better in this situation.
dont nuke or flame me because i know this is a noobish question :-] :tomato:

Thanks in advance

The only port forwarding that need to be done will be on your end if your brother starts the connection with PCHElpware or VNC SC. Since your IP changes so often I would aslo subscribe to DYNDNS.com which will enable you to have a DNS address that will not change.

The repeater is also a option.

okay,
so if i want to use pchelpware without portforward and DYNDNS.com i must use repeater?...correct? ,
Is there another way to avoid portforward and dyndns.com.
Can i use uvnc.com as repeater for this purpose.

Now i am a bit confused, is there any difference in functions between SC and PChelpware except different core and compatibility gap pchelpware Vs SC.?

Huh, i know, there is lots of questions.........
I have searched the forum but i am not still sure in those things.
Please shed some light on my ignorance
:)

Thanks

Who is going to make the request for connection? By your post it looks like your brother. You will need to port forward on your end. If you don't us DYNDNS you will need to change your connection file each time your ISP changes your IP.
