when initating the client before you connect on the server machine right click on the icon in the systray and uncheck the "poll full screen fast" box and check "check low accuracy" box hit apply and then ok and then on the server machine accept the request.

I had the same problem with win 98 but its all good now doing it that way. maybe I will open the winvnc code and change the defaults and recompile a win98 version.
