Screen blanks when in use and doesn't update

I'm currently running version 1.2.0.9 and have a strange effect on more than one server. I can be busy doing something and the screen will go blank for a couple of seconds and then come back. This has only happened since I installed this version.

There is a second problem, which may or may not be associated. If I leave a UNVC client window alone for a long period, when I come back to it it is often not up to date with the server. In some cases when I do something on the window, after a short delay it will update to the current time on the remote system. However there are times when the view simply stays the same but if I do something to provoke an action on the remote system and then disconnect and reconnect the session the remote action has been performed, it's just that the screen hasn't updated.

Have you specified an encoder or do you use auto setting?
Is the server screensaver off ?

The latest version is 1.2.1.0, it could be that some issue's are solved. Can you try this version and verify if it still behave the same.
We always use the latest to debug stuff, so at least we need to have the same version when trying to repeat some issue's.

I've installed 1.2.1.0 and still have both problems. I use auto settings for encoding and the screensaver is on on the servers

Tested with a eu/us vnc connection, uptime was more then 24 hours, server was a server 2012 and VDSL.
Tested 512kb line and all stay on
Tested with a repeater eu <->us->eu, for 7 days and still no crashes.
The only way i get a black screen is when the screensaver ( with a different resolution) kick in on the server, but that's intentional.

Interesting that you say the only time you get a black screen is when the screen saver kicks in. When everything is working OK and the screen saver kicks in on the server I see the screen saver images on the client - my screen saver is random photos. The only time I've noticed the black screen is at a point where I don't think the screen saver would be active, i.e. within seconds of making a connection, when the screen goes black for a short period, maybe three seconds, and then comes back. And I don't think it's trying to do a re-connect as I don't notice a message to that effect.

An initial black screen is caused by encoder switching. We erase a buffer by putting all to 0 ( black) but sometimes the server
send this buffer to the viewer before sending the actual screen. This is a know effect...in the older versions. A workaround was
using a fixed encoder instaed of the auto mode ( server option)

But this is something different then having a black screen in the middle of a session of after a timeout.

I have this same exact problem. it was driving me absolutely nuts. I determined that the flash happened 60 seconds exactly from when I connected to the server and then every 60 seconds thereafter. Rudi had asked if the connection type was set to AUTO, and it was. the solution was to just set it to something else. I now have two sessions open to a server, one is at Ultra, the other at medium. and neither one of them are flashing anymore!

so, to sum up:

VNCVIEWER FLASHING BLACK EVERY 60 SECONDS WHEN USING AUTO SETTINGS UNDER QUICK OPTIONS FIXED BY CHOOSING SOMETHING ELSE.
