UltraVNC as Help Desk tool

I need a VNC program to run with both sides using Windows 7. For that reason I downloaded UltraVNC version 1.2.0.9
But I cannot get it to work.
I have the Server set up and running on the remote system and I launch the Viewer on my own workstation.
The connection is established after I enter my UltraVNC connection password.

On the remote system, there is already a user logged in that I want to over-view/monitor.
The VNC connection should be allowing me to take mouse control, etc. but mostly just watch the existing user do their work.

But the problem arises when the connection is established.
Instead of going immediately into the existing user's session, I get a Windows login prompt: Enter Cntrl+Alt+Delete

UltraVNC is acting like it is setting up an RDP session to the remote instead of a VNC session.
What am I doing wrong?

Any advice/assistance you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

From my knowledge ultraVNC is not overtaking a RDP session if installed as a service. It's not able to. Installed as service ultraVNC establishes always a console session. Don't ask why, I don't know it. Some technical reasons.
If you see a logon screen this could mean that somebody was logged in the last time via RDP. If you don't login via RDP it shouldn't be necessary to login to a console session.

Of course someone was logged in via RDP.
It was THAT user session that I was attempting to view.

I need to be able to use my VNC connection to transparently 'watch over' another user's session - whether it is an RDP session or not.
When the VNC connection has been established, it should immediately open so that the other user's session can be observed - no additional Windows Login required.
That is how other VNC programs (RealVNC, etc.) works for the other RDP sessions running Windows XP.

How can I get that to happen with UltraVNC going into an RDP session running Windows 7?

Are there some UltraVNC configuration settings (either on my UltraVNC Viewer client or on the RDP session's UltraVNC Service) that needs to be set up to allow what I need?

1) Installed as service you always clone the session running on the pc monitor, the console.
2) When a user start winvnc.exe manual in a session ( console, RDP#1, RDP#2,..) vnc clone that session.

What you see is the following.
Your PC doesn't have a RDP server license, so when you connect with RDP the local console is disconnected.
When vnc connect ( running as service) he open the disconnected console, and close RDP ( the OS doesn't allow multiple session)

That's how all vnc version works and this behaviour can not be change with a setting.

You can try to add winvnc.exe to the start menu, so that when the user start winvnc.exe is started in that session.
The only problem is then that you can't connect when no user is logged.

UltraVNC is installed and Running as a Service on the Remote workstation which is running Windows 7

I attempt to use my UltraVNC Viewer to access the Remote workstation.
It makes a successful connection, but I am faced with a Windows Login screen - which does not happen when I use any other VNC Viewer application into a Windows XP Remote workstation running the associated VNC service.

With UltraVNC, if I proceed with the Windows Login to the Remote (through the UltraVNC Viewer window) I do not see the other user's session but instead a new session.

This is NOT how other VNC applications run when the Remote is running Windows XP.
So, is this problem due to:
* Windows 7 and settings that need to be made there?
* or due to UltraVNC and settings that need to be made within it (Viewer or Service)?

Like i told before, all vnc viewers work the same.
There exist no vnc flavor that does what you want to do.
Vnc as service always clone the console..

Our pchelpware software ( this is not vnc or rfb compatible) detect if rdp is active and give you a menu on connection
#console not connected
#rdp1 not connected
#rdp2 connected user marc
Please select the session you want to connect to...
This doesn not exist in vnc, the rfb protocol doesn't have a session selection mechanism.
