is there something that will help me to setup the repeater download?
I download it and it just runs when I click on distributor. Need to know how to set it up and use it.

Using Repeater
Re: Using Repeater
Hi out there.
This topic is a little bit old, but stil without answer. I'm also searching for a guide how to setup the repeater or distributor or however it is called. It has taken about 2 hours to search the web and the forum for the uvnc repeater and its use. But everywhere I've looked around, I got other files and answers. It seems that the manual here isn't up to date, because there seems to be a webinterface but I can't enter it correctly.
Then I found an old "repeater.exe", but if I download the latest version of uvnc there is no "repeater.exe" included and the zip-file which is named repeater contains the files of "distributer.exe."
So I've got several questions to you guys:
- What is the correct, actual name of the repeater function?
- Could you please give my advise how to setup the repeater on a major pc?
We want to connect from the company network into the production-linenetworks. This networks are seperated and we've got a master pc in every of our production lines which are managing the data exchange between the production network and the company network. As I understood is the correct connection way to tell the vnc-viewer the ip-address of the target pc, the proxy-ip-address and the port 5901, in our case the proxy-ip would be the ip of the master pc, isn't it? The correct mode should be mode 1 or am I wrong?
- What is the default user/password-combination for the webinterface to configure? I've read about admin/admin, blank user/adminadmi2.
- Whatfor is the "accept only ID" function? This is only for mode 2 I've read, but I don't understood the complete meaning of this.
- How can I setup the repeater as a system service so that it isn't neccessary to have an user logged in on the master pc. Is it still correct to open the cmd and type distributer.exe -install?
Many question I've left in this thread, but I'm sure, you guys can help me to get the solution for our network working. - I trust in you.

Re: Using Repeater
repeater=distributer This is the same, the src create a ditributer.exe "original name", sometimes i just fotget to rename it.
You don't need to setup anything, a repeater.exe just need to be executed.
Answers from src, i also need to check it.
default
user: admin
saved_portHTTP=80;
strcpy(saved_password,"adminadmi2");
if(!_strcmpi(lpszCmdLine, "-install")) {
main_initialize(NULL, NULL);
return install_service();
} else if(!_strcmpi(lpszCmdLine, "-uninstall")) {
main_initialize(NULL, NULL);
return uninstall_service();

Re: Using Repeater
accept only ID: only predefined numbers can be used.
This is only interesting if you run a public repeater and don't want that everybody use it.
It just preset the ID's that can be used.
Only allow ID (nr;nr;nr)

Re: Using Repeater
Server and viewer need to be able to ping the repeater PC.
Sample
1.1.10.x : prod
1.1.11.x: support
pc with repeater has 2 interfaces 1.1.10.1 and 1.1.11.1
mode II:
-server 1.1.10.2 connect to repeater 1.1.10.1 pc ( using ID 12345 )
-viewer 1.1.11.2 connect to repeater 1.1.11.1 pc ( Using ID 12345 )
mode I
-Server listen on 1.1.10.2
-viewer 1.1.11.2 connect to repeater 1.1.11.1 and instead of an ID he set the server ip(1.1.10.2) in the server field
repeater forward to 1.1.10.2
The pc actual act as a vnc router between the 2 networks

Re: Using Repeater
Hi.
Thanks for your answers as well.
I've got the repeater setup and it's working well. But our IT-security guy asked me, if it is possible to get the repeater in an other "access mode." As I understood, the ID and the comment are used in this case, that the server adds a client using the repeater and the id is manually entered in the connection procedure.
In our case it is that we connect with the viewer to the server by passing the repeater without anybody who added a new client to the server. We want to connect to our production machines on every time we want it to. So would it be possible to enter some kind of username and password to connect throug the repeater? Maybe it is hard to understand, I'll give an example:
1. At the viewer I enter the ip-adress of my server, for example: 172.17.114.166.
2. To use the repeater I tell also "use proxy: 172.17.113.102:5901"."
3. If anything is working fine, I'll get the small window to enter the passwort of the server.
Our it-security guy asked for a step betwenn the second and the third step.
1. At the viewer I enter the ip-adress of my server, for example: 172.17.114.166.
2. To use the repeater I tell also "use proxy: 172.17.113.102:5901"."
3. I'll get a window to enter a user-id and a password or something like the ms-logon option at the server configuration.
4. If anything is working fine, I'll get the small window to enter the passwort of the server.
It is possible to follow the thoughts of our it-guy and my brain stumbling writing? I don't know an easier way to explain...

Re: Using Repeater
The repeater implementation doesn't have this step.
Changing communication between repeater and viewer require a new viewer and repeater implementation.
