Hello,
I'm pretty confused ...
I created a file that SC works fine if the viewer is on windows 7.
The the viewer version that I was using was 1.1.9.3.
I installed the same version on windows 8.1 but the screen refresh was very slow (but magically everything worked fine if at the same time I opened a RDP session to the computer excecuting the SC file .
I then downloaded and installed version 1.1.9.6 (for windows 8_ ) .. and I run the viewer on .\installer64 ... but nothing has changed.
I read something in the forum on "install w8hook64.dll" (my PC is 64-bit), and that this could be the solution to my problem.
But how do It ?
I moved the files in the folder installer64 mo did not change anything.
Can you help?

Re: Refresh on Windows 8
Viewer is independed of OS version.
Running a viewer on XP or win8 should not make any difference, a viewer is like a avi player.
SC ?
SC is a seperated version, you build online.
For SC you best use the viewer what can be donwloaded on the SC page.
I'm confused about what you are trying.
viewer:
This is a single exe, vncviewer.exe it doesn't use any hook or drivers.
Server:
The server winvnc.exe that capture the image use w8hook vnchook in combination with screen polling.
works fine ? or not fine ?
I'm sorry, but i have no clue what's working or not.

Re: Refresh on Windows 8
Thanks for the replies,
now I understand what driver w8hook is ...
However , I have this situation:
a server (SC)
a Distributer
and a client (viewer)
When the viewer run on windows 8, the refresh is very slow (20/30 sec) but on windows 7 works well.
I hope now that I have explained it well.
Thanks

Re: Refresh on Windows 8
I don't see any speed difference between a xp -vista-win7 win8 OS that is running a viewer.
The viewer speed just doesn't depend on the OS you run it on. It depend on the network and cpu.
Can anybody else confirm a win7-win8 speed difference for the viewer ?
Could it that a win8 is on wifi ?
What's the encoder use by both viewers?
Press (!) button to see the encoder that's used.

of course I did the test in the same conditions: the same hardware (only 1 pc is used) run on WIndows 8.1 and Windows 7 as client UltraVncViewer.
The two tests are made on the local network and then in a few minutes under the same conditions.
For the client seems that the " ViewOnly mode" is actived but the server's user see move the mouse pointer and click / double-click.
Only after 20/30 seconds, the client screen is refreshced..
