Hi,
I use UVNC to connect my main PC to my laptop to use it remotely. The main PC runs Windows 8, the laptop runs WIndows 7 x64 Enterprise.
This has been working perfectly.
I have just received a new laptop (Dell 6430u) and have installed UVNC as previously, actually using the same settings ini as from the old machine. It's configured to run as a service.
It works fine, connects and operates with no issues ... the problem is that several times per day on the Viewer I get a "Not Responding" message. I can force-close VNC and then instantly restart the session and it picks up just fine.
Do you have any idea why this may be happening or how I can debug it?
Nothing has changed on the viewer side since it worked fine.
Using latest 1.1.9.1
Thanks

You stop and restart the service ?
Or you need to kill winvnc.exe with the taskmgr.
The viewer is running on the desktop, the server is running as service on your new laptop (win8)

Re: Freezing/Not Responding several times per day
Hi,
I just need to restart the viewer, not the server.
But my assumption is that it's a server issue as nothing on the viewer system has changed?

Re: Freezing/Not Responding several times per day
Some more detail.
Windows 8 PC: Viewer
Windows 7 Enterprise x64: Server
Ordinarily when my connection is active the UVNC icon on the server (laptop) is 'yellow'
When the Windows 8 viewer hangs and I look at the server (laptop), the UVNC icon is 'blue'

Re: Freezing/Not Responding several times per day
It looks like the server disconnect from the network -> server yellow disconnect and become blue.
The viewer is still connected to the network, but he just don't get any reaction from the server -> he keeps trying to connect.
The problem is to know why ?
It can be something stupid like a power manager issue.
On my laptop, the network close each time the screensaver jump in...
It was a powersave option
It can also be something else, but it's hard to tell

Re: Freezing/Not Responding several times per day
Okay, thanks very much - I'll take a look at the powersaving options tomorrow.
It's never hung up while actively using it, so you could be right ...
It would be good if the viewer could handle the state gracefully ("Client disconnected, or similar"), but I don't expect it's an issue many experience.
Thank you again for excellent software.
