SC and Local Repeater Use - Will help speed?

Post by racassel »

Hello I have been avid user of UVNC SC for many years. It worked really good with XP, and have tried version after version after version to get it stable and acceptable with Vista, Win7 and now Win8. Since Vista we never seem to get it working very fast.

I am wondering if having our own repeater running would make a difference in the speed. Every thing connect okay, and work good until that UAC promp comes up. (How logmein get around this I dunno) . It seems most of the times in the peak of the business day that SC just drags.... sometimes 10 or 15 seconds between screen updates because it just seems to be timing out, the work okay for a few clicks, then you have to wait again for the screen to refresh and hitting manual refresh does not work.

Could the shared default shared repeater, (probably shared by thousand users, and located on the other side of the world from me be the cause of this delay?
I am hoping a local repeater could help me better service my local users when they click on my website to use the SC VNC.

Thank you very much for your reply.

Are you using a repeater ? SC can make a direct connection.
If not, adding a repeater gonna make it slower.
If you are using some ( long distance) repeater having your own will make it faster.

The SC version doesn't work with UAC, UAC can only handled by an application running as service.
The full winvnc support UAC.

Thank you so much for the fast reply. We just upgraded to 1.1.8.0 on the desktops, and configured a 2011 SC and hopefully this "lagging response" issue will be resolved for us. Can you think of what else might cause the screen refresh to take so long sometimes?

A 2011 version wil make a difference, as it use a different capture engine for win7
That version was made before the 1.1.8 updates and tested with the previous 1.0.9.2 viewer.
1.1.8 should be backward compatible...
