Automating install as a service

Post by marius »

After reading the Installation guide on page http://www.chunkvnc.com/installationguide.html I see I can install InstantSupport.exe as a service.
It solves my UAC issues on Windows 7 and works fine.
However, installing InstantSupport.exe required a reboot.
is there any way to automate installing it as a service?
Regards

Typically installing as a service does not require a reboot of the computer although I have had a small amount of computers not reconnect until they were rebooted. (never figured out why)
You will however need to connect with ChunkViewer again as the installation process disconnects the current session.

1) Install as a service.
2) Ask the local user to click "continue, yes or allow" if they are using Vista or higher.
3) Wait for the repeater log to show that InstantSupport has connected again (typical time around 5-10 seconds)

I support approximately 40 different clients (Win XP, Vista, 7 and now 8) and have never had a reboot needed. As supercoe pointed out, there is always a disconnect and reconnect required.
