Settings for use with Win8?

I am using Win 8 retail and 1.1.1.0 uVNC.

It works but even though I am through Gigabit LAN I am getting weird performance issues with KB more than anything else.

Long pauses before I can start to type in input boxes. Mousing around, changing tasks, apps, etc. seem to work OK.

Of note, Win8 can't turn off Aero and I am noticing large memory usage (though not really CPU) with DWM.exe (Desktop Windows Manager). So I guess I need some advice on how to configure it for decent perf. within a home LAN env.

Other than install, do I have to do anything to use the w8hook dll addon?

I'm having the same keyboard issue in Windows 8 with 1.1.1.0 uVNC. It sometimes locks up on mouse clicks as well, but it's generally just randomly accepting or not accepting keyboard input.

It's also starting to give some random disconnects unrelated to kb/m inputs. I've tried RealVNC server, and it doesn't have any of the keyboard or disconnect issues, but it does seem much slower than uVNC 1.1.* with Win8. Obviously neither are quite as fast as RDP, but I'd prefer not to have to deal with the local log on/off requirement it has.

looks like I spoke too soon about RealVNC, it refuses to refresh the screen, forced to disconnect and reconnect. Did not have that issue with uVNC fortunately.

There are several issue's with the keyboard.

*wrong timeout, this cause the keyboard to disconnect -> video only
*ctrl key is set ON when viewer connect, keys doesn't work before pressing ctrl
*possible null pointer can crash the server
*

Still testing as it require several fixes.
