2 repeater questions

Post by timmy2 »

I suspect I'm confused by some of the content if not the mere presence of the thread "All VNC Repeaters." Would someone please tell me:

1. if the ChunkVNC Repeater is at its own separate site, with its associated router correctly configured, is there any need to open ports in the router at the site where the Viewer is used (where the guy providing support is located)?

2. does all traffic during the remote session pass through the repeater?

The "All VNC Repeaters" thread exists because I only include the Windows and Perl Repeater with the ChunkVNC package. It was made by another member of this forum to compile a list of the other Repeater options.

1) There is no need to forward any ports for the Viewer as it only makes an outgoing connection to the Repeater. Forwarding a port is only for an outside (WAN) connection to be properly routed inside (LAN).

2) Yes.
