Why 1.1.x for Windows 8?

Post by Prisma »

Hi Rudi,

I know you already explained what's new in 1.1.x. But, what's done especially for Windows 8? I tested 1.0.9.6.1 with Win8, no (new) problems detected.
Is w8hook.dll only needed because of performance issues or also needed for other stuff?

We're using UltraVNC in professional environment, so... we're a little bit conservative an no "early adopters"

windows 8
-no mirror drivers
-special keys like alt-tab require new handling

w8hook: performance and capture of directx.
The mirror driver was not able to capture directx, using the new method( part of directx) you can capture all screens.

For all:
-If you are using the secure plugin without a key ( passwd as key) you better upgrade as soon as 1.1 is stable.
-extended left screen
-adaptive packets size (win7> and running as service or elevated admin)
We use the adcanced network retransmit stats for it.
