Problem downloading Windows Event Logs with File Transfer

Post by uvncproblem »

Hi,

We have a problem downloading the Windows event logs from a remote computer running UVNC. I'm trying to download the files in C:\windows\system32\config - with the .evt extension. These files are about 512kb large, but when I try to download them, UVNC says it's trying to download a 3.99Gb file...

I'm using v 1.0.9.6 of the viewer.

Can anyone help? This looks to be some sort of file access problem (maybe Windows XP has an exculusive lock on these files, and UVNC can't handle this?)

I was accessing a customer's machine so did not want to interact with the desktop - I just wanted to download the event logs with the file transfer in the background. It may be because the logged in user on the remote desktop did not have admin permissions?

In the end, I logged in remotely to an admin account, and exported the event logs to other files, which I could then successfully download.

From what I've seen, the file transfer function has the rights of the locally logged on user.

You can take System permission if running as service ...
Option server site. ( impersonate user)

Just know what you do... this give full access to all LOCAL files, including system files.
Running as "System" you don't have access to mapped folders.
