MSI ini file

Post by alexchevrier »

Hi,
nice works on the new msi install file. Gonna save me a lot of trouble to deploy on our 3000 computer network ! I created my one msi before and it was time consuming.

I'm preparing the 1.0.9.6.2 deployment version. I created an mst to remove shortcuts (we don't want students to try and play with ultravnc). In the same mst, I would like to add the ini settings required for our network. I tried to copy the ini file with a script, but since we modify the ini file with a GPO to hide the tray icon on the students computers, it's kind of a problem... It's the first time I do this in an mst, but found this particularly helpful link :

My question is, what component in the component table is the one for the msi ?

Thanks.

Tried a lot of component and it worked if I didn't install the service. When the service is installed, it erases the ini file and puts only password in it.

I returned back to my original idea to copy the ini entirely with the help of this link :

I did the same thing for vnclang.dll, so I now have the msi, an mst and 2 cabs. Works like a charm !

Hope this can help others !
