vnc screen refresh slow on viewer

Post by JamesW »

I am using the one-click software for the server (trying to get this set up to do support for our customers) and I am on windows7 32bit for the viewer. The viewer is a dual-core Pentium4 3GHz, 4GB of RAM, and embedded video (Intel).
Everything is working perfectly except for the refresh rate on the viewer. The connection from the viewer to the server is lightning quick, I just can't keep up on the viewer end.
Can anyone out there lend a hand?
Thanks!

You could try toggling the Poll options on the server Properties, and/or the speed settings on the Viewer. Also, disable wallpaper and reduce screen resolution/depth if you haven't already.

Here's what I got for the viewer options:
Format and encoding:
ZRLE
256 Colors
Use CopyRect encoding
Zip/Tight Compression:6
Jpeg(Tight) - Quality:6
Misc:
Share the server
Mouse and keyboard:
Don't show remote cursor
Display:
Show buttons bar

Is there a way to build server options into the one-click program that would help with this display problem?

known issue
you should update your vncviewer to newer version 1.0.9.6

older version have an issue if local computer win7 and aero and remote have no aero

don't know if your one-click version is compatible with win7 and aero without slowdown

it also depend of your type of network connection at both side:
  • * latency (short (meter) or long distance (kilo meter)
    * bandwith of upload of vnc server (remote) to vnc viewer (local).
    * type of connection:
** wired: modem 56k, broadband DSL/CATV 128k or above Fiber Optical
    ** wireless: wlan 11/54/150Mbit/s ; 2G/3G cellular GSM/UMTS, etc..
UltraVNC 1.0.9.6.1 (built 20110518)
OS Win: xp home + vista business + 7 home
only experienced user, not developer

I have solved this with server settings:

Poll Full Screen - checked
Poll Foreground Window - checked
Pool Window Under Cursor - checked
Low Accurenxcy - checked

Now it's just perfect
