No Public IP's

Post by multiplexed »

I’ve been looking through the website, but at this point I’m just confused.

My situation is that I need to provide some remote support, but our local internet provider does not provide public ip addresses. My question is, how can I connect to a remote machine if neither of us has a public ip address? I do have a shared website hosting if it would help with possible redirect functionality. Of course, I probably can’t open any ports on the hosted site though.

Again, my question is how to do remote support if neither of us have a public ip?

Nat2nat is discontinued, correct?
PCHelpware development is stagnant, correct?
Would SCIII work?

Are there any other products, from uvnc or from a 3rd party?

Thanks.

You use a 3rd party.

LogMeIn Free (and possibly TeamViewer) are free for this purpose. There are a few public VNC repeaters around.

NAT2Nat has recently been "reloaded" and there is a public beta of the new PCHelpware. You would be relying on Rudi's redirector server.

For hosting your own, shared hosting will PROBABLY not cut it. But any VPS should suffice.

Thanks for the information. There's a lot to look into. Thanks again.
