Use helpdesk.txt from a URL

Post by jbcollins »

Hi All,

Does anyone know of a way to get singleclick to look at a URL for the helpdesk.txt file before opening?

That way any changes i make will be available straight away without compiling another executable.

That's actually a great idea, but I don't think there's any way at present. One point of SingleClick is it's a static executable that's signed by the UVNC author.

The simple answer is to go ahead and encode a DNS name in the helpdesk.txt -- you do NOT have to use an IP address.

Then just change the pointer for the DNS record whenever you need to. Obviously, short TTLed DNS names (usually via dynamic DNS services) work best for this sort of thing.

I used to use a product called OneClick made by Advantig, there build actually had that option to specify the url where your helpdesk.txt file was located. I looked through all the config files, but it appears they used a small exe to do the work.
