What is schooks.dll

Post by rrip »

What is SCHOOKS.DLL and is it helpful or necessary when running WINVNC.EXE minimally on a Windows 7 system?
Also, what does VNCHOOKS.DLL do?

schooks.dll is not required but generally provides more accurate screen updates when activated in the Server properties.
vnchooks.dll unless I'm mistaken helps with hooking the keyboard and mouse.

If you want to be minimalist the only files required to run a VNC Server are winvnc.exe and ultravnc.ini (SecureVNC.dsm encryption plugin is recommended be not required)
