I've had this problem for a long time - through multiple versions of UltraVNC. I have a newer Windows 7 (64 bit) laptop with a wide, high resolution screen and a XP Pro desktop machine with multiple monitors. When I connect from the desktop to the laptop, the new window opens on my first logical monitor which is smaller than my laptop screen.
The problem is that UltraVNC only renders the part of the laptop display that matches the smaller desktop monitor size. The right side of the screen is black and stays that way even if I move the window to a larger monitor that is capable of displaying the whole screen or if I use the sliders to pan to the right. When I move the mouse over the black portion of the screen the pointer does not track on the laptop screen.
I've searched the forum, tried various settings and installed the mirror driver and not made any progress.
Here's a screenshot: http://www.screencast.com/t/sanBMrrr
Any ideas?

Right side of screen black when connecting to Win 7 laptop
Re: Right side of screen black when connecting to Win 7 lapt
Have you fiddled with the server side settings Rudi describes at https://forum.ultravnc.net/viewtopic.ph ... 078#p87321
or reviewed the bug report at https://forum.ultravnc.net/viewtopic.ph ... 19&p=89661
?

Perhaps I'm misreading the issues you've linked, but it seems that both of the problems listed occur when the server has multiple monitors. In this case my laptop is the server and only has the single, built in display.
Re: Right side of screen black when connecting to Win 7 lapt
Ah yes, sorry.
Hmm. I know I connect to higher resolution servers all the time, and VNC Viewer is kind enough to rescale everything for me. (Although, come to think of it, this is usually with TightVNC.)
You've probably tried this, but what happens if you move the VNC Viewer window to your larger monitor BEFORE initiating the connection?
And I assume you've fiddled with all the scaling and screen resolution options....

I had done so many times before, but at your suggestion I went back in and tried modifying the viewer settings again. To my surprise I was able to get it to work properly on this version. Thanks much!B wrote:Ah yes, sorry.

Well that's a relief; saved me from having to actually figure it out.
Enjoy...
