SC with DSM plugin help?

Post by Cliffhanger »

Can sombody help with which combination of versions work to allow SC to use the encryption plugin? I can get it to work without the plugin but not with it.

So far, I've tried SC versions RC18, RC19.4, RC19.5, RC20. Ive tried msrc4plugin.dsm, msrc4plugin_noreg.dsm, and msrc4plugin_reg.dsm. After creating the key from the viewer, I've renamed it to rc0.key, rc4.key and r04.key.

I read through the forum and FAQ, looked at the various sites for downloading and seem to come up with different answers. There must be something obvious that I'm missing?

I really like this whole SC concept and appreciate the hard work. Many thanks to you developers.

You're not including the plugin in the zip file prior to creation, right? Because you're not supposed to. Just the key.

Also, which version of the plugin are you using on the viewer end? If you're using the creator for RC19.4 then use plugin version 1.1.0 If your using the creator for RC20 then use plugin 1.1.6

Yes, that is correct. I only have the plugin in the c:\program files\ultraVNC directory. It was not included in my .zip file uploaded to 'creator'.

Where can I find which versions are compatable?

OK, I believe I've tried plugin 1.1.5 with RC18-RC20
Where is plugin 1.1.0? All I see on http://home.comcast.net/~msrc4plugin/index.html is versions 1.1.3 thru 1.1.6

And on http://www.uvnc.com/index.php?section=19 there appears to now be only the creators for RC20 not for 19.4

Thanks,

Your best bet would be to create your version of UltraVNC SC and then extract the plugin from the exe file using a utility like 7zip or other compressed file tool. That way they will definitely match.

Don't I need the plugin to be in the c:\program files\ultraVNC along with the viewer in order to create the key to begin with? Or are you suggesting using the rc4.key that is already in 'custom.zip'?

It doesn't matter what version of the plugin was used to create the key. As long as the plugin versions are the same on the viewer and server end when trying to connect and the keys are identical.
