File Transfer with 1.0.9.6 server not possible

Post by Flexman »

So, I read that viewers are downward-compatible. Unfortunately 1.0.9.6.1 does not want to do file transfers with a 1.0.9.6-Server!
Just wanted to mention that. When I changed my viewer back to 1.0.9.6 it worked fine again.

Viewers yes, file transfers no!

Unfortunately you really need the same version on both sides for file transfer to work. (Although I''m surprised that not even two iterations of 1.0.9.6.x will work.)

I also had some different versions where it worked.

However, 1.0.9.6.1 seems to have some other bugs. Since I updated UVNC on the server, I wasn't even able to connect with the latest viewer. All I get is a grey screen. On some computers it works on some computers it doesn't. Strange is that other VNC-Viewers work fine on the computers having problems with the UVNC-Viewer.

I was not able to locate the problem... VNC Server was updated to 1.0.9.6.1 (64bit), I was able to connect from Win7 64bit as well as WinXP 32bit, but the computers where it didn't work were two with XP 32bit. It even worked on my Phone (Symbian). So I don't have a clue yet why the problem appears. :surprise:

With the gray screen problem, I found that if the host machine had a screen saver or locked screen that doesn't change then you get the grey screen problem. I simply moved the mouse around for a bit and reconnected and the login box or normal screen showed again.

The key I found was the host has to have a changing background for 1.0.9.6.1 to send any data.
