tightvnc vs ultravnc

Post by sulasno »

newbie looking for advice;

I want to monitor another computer on a home network (connected via a router);
should I use tightvnc or ultravnc ?

looking to run something that doesn't involves a steep learning curve;
I am running WinXP while the other system is running Win7

The "learning curve" would be about identical, since they're more or less the same product, both stemming from the original AT&T/Olivetti VNC. UltraVNC is more full featured, and TightVNC is sometimes more stable (for me at least).

I would start with UltraVNC and if it seems flaky to you, try uninstalling it and using TightVNC. You have nothing to lose but a bit of time.

What does a proxy program have to do with it? Is this just spam?
