I compiled the sc using instructions above and it works fine without encryption.
When I use with encryption (listen mode encrypt), my viewer says,
"The plugin cannot be loaded. Please check its name integrity".
"Invalid protocol!" "You've forgotten to select a DMSPlugin and the Server uses a DSMPlugin."
I am using a working helpdesk.txt file from an older version of sc.

I am using the msrc4 plugin 1.2.2 and then also tried 1.2.4.

I cannot seem to get the viewer 1.0.9.6 to configure the MSRC4Plugin, it did not install in the directory during install, so I had to manually put it there using files from an older version install. I put it in the main exe folder, I also put it in a Plugins folder.
thanks for your patience!

Nothing like posting to help you find your answer faster!?!?!

I realized I was using the MSRC4 1.2.2 and 1.2.4 plugin that was 32bit, and running it on my Win7 64bit pc with 64 bit ultraVNC. So when I copied over the plugin, ultraVNC choked.
I reinstalled ultraVNC 1.0.9.6 32bit, and I now can connect encrypted with 1.2.4 plugin.

A few questions please -
1. Is there a 64 bit MSRC4Plugin? If so, where can I find it?
2. When I installed ultraVNC 1.0.9.6 the MSRC4Plugin did not install with it - why?
3. I tried using the securevnc plugin but that crashed, likely 32 vs. 64 bit issue again?

Thank you.

Great job on this SC update.

The only problem I still am having is that I lose control on vista / Win7 when the pc going into screen saver mode and the user has a password on the screen saver.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Thx for this update. :)

I had done some tests under XP, Vista and 7 without any problem. About speed i can't say anything at the moment, i had tested only in vpc.

For this i wrote my own UVNCSC ControlCenter that deactivates screensaver (with or without password) and desktop picture at start and reactivates both at session end. That's only 2 little things my CC can do. I can unfortunately not upload images here. :|

When using with a remote XP machine, winvnc.exe tend to use a lot of the remote machine ressource.
Screen refreshing become slow or stall.

[DIS_UAC]
[WALLPAPER]

Were added to the helpdesk.txt
May those setting be uncompatible with XP?

Hi There!

I am sorry if this is a dumb question.

My existing (working) Directory structure is something like this:

c:\sc\sc_vnc_FIles

Which contains the following files:

Aero_disable.exe 22/01/08
background.bmp 06/08/06
enter.bmp 04/04/07
helpdesk.txt 29/09/10
icon1.ico 01/11/04
icon2.ico 10/10/04
logo.bmp 06/08/06
msrc4plugin.dsm 04/04/07
rc4.key 29/10/04
vnchooks.dll 04/04/07
winvnc.cmd 31/01/08

The new archive has something different, with a winvnc.exe which I haven't seen before? Am I to disregard my existing structure and use the new structure and copy over the helpdesk.txt file, and the zip and upload?

I see this only works with 1.0.8 or 1.09.51 but I don't see 1.0.9.51, only 1.09.50?

http://www.uvnc.com/downloads/ultravnc/ ... -1095.html

I have 1.0.8.2

Do I upgrade to 1.0.9.5 or can someone link me to .1?

This happens pretty often because SC and VNC in general provide remote control, so braindead antivirus packages (that is, all of them) can't distinguish the innocent from the bad. If you went through the standard SC creator process the resulting executable will be signed with Rudi's key and SHOULD be trusted by your AV program. If you did use the official generator, I would report this as a false positive to your antivirus vendor.

Well! The problem is not the VNC file before complie. All of the files pass through my gateway anti-virus, but after the online creator generate the execution file, my gateway alert me with the trojan!! so when the online creator generate the file, it also combine trojan into the exe!!

Hey B, avix. Working in the AV industry I have both, contacts and perhaps some insider knowledge that explains why it gets detected. :tomato:

@avis: what AV software are you using?

Think they are using the McAfee engine, try reporting the falsepos to McAfee.

Thanks Oliver, and no offense by the way -- I'm well aware that the real reason AV is so hard is that one person's utility is another person's "trojan", just as evidenced here. Well that, and Windows! :)

Even so, I've seen just about all AV programs let crap through with the tiniest of changes; heuristics still seem like a pipe dream.

Anyway, avix, please understand that there IS NO TROJAN (most likely) getting bundled into your executable. As Oliver said, this is what's called a "false positive" (your AV flagging something as viral when it's just NOT) and should be reported to the AV producer, in this case McAfee and/or SonicWall.

With reports from you and/or others they will almost surely fix this in an upcoming update....

Good to hear!

Just be aware that when you're distributing SC executables to others, you have no way of knowing or controlling whether THEIR antivirus programs decide to flag things in a similar fashion. (This may be even more of a problem for unsigned executables such as those generated by SCPrompt and ChunkVNC.)

This is working great so far except for one small problem. When it exits, the server uninstall causes the program compatibility assistant to launch, asking if the program installed correctly or should it search for a solution. Is there a workaround for this? Not a huge deal, but still an annoyance.

@ajohnson30: would you please check your email server settings. I got one rather dubious looking message either from you or automated and when I replied to you, I got a bounce.

Update: problem resolved :)

As for the compatibility assistant, I think it is probably related to some manifest missing in the setup binary. Best might be to track it with one of the shims designed to track such issues and ultimately resolve it.

Rudi: SC small exe Update 2011

Post by vncscuser »

Rudi, thanks for keeping the sc development alive. Yes I saw the 2011 update at the bottom of
the online sc creator page, "UltraVncSC update 2011"

But little confusion here : does this latest updated online sc creator generate a winvnc.exe
that is more up to date then what could be downloaded already on the first post ???

X64
Not possible.
To keep the exe small, we need to use Visual studio 6.0, this doesn't had a x64 compiler.
A 32bit version run on 32 and 64 bit OS, no need to have 2 seperate versions.

Version:
Website was updated with the source and exe from the thread.
If you are using the "forum version" you already have the latest.

Thanks Rudi, I'm ok then with the forum version. It works great here with Win7. I can leave the shop pc on were I work and connect to it from home to access my things to do for the next day. I still think one of the best parts of sc is the screen polling feature. Installing a mirror driver doesn't always work on some motherboards and you end up with a blue screen. Screen polling is full proof. I tried turbovnc and tigervnc out of curiosity but couldn't get them to work, are they really that much faster or should I not bother. SC is very stable and fast.
greetings ricardo.

why not remove the old online creators? Seems like they're never going to be used if the newest is better. Would avoid confusion.

Old builders allowed to use own dll/exe instead of the default.
The new version only allow our created exe. (reason: exe is signed on creation and we don't want to sign exe not created by us)

Looking at the stats, old versions are still used.

Is the newer builder still listed only at the bottom of the SC page? I would expect that skews things quite a bit...

Hi

I mostly use

winvnc.exe -connect MyIp:5500 -noregistry

I would like to know how to specify [DIS-UAC], [WALL_PAPER] using command line option above?

And what is [DIRECT] for?

thx a lot

It doesn't exist as commandline...
winvnc.exe read the value's from the helpdesk.txt file

[DIRECT]
If you specify only ONE host entry the [DIRECT] option skip the step that you need to select a host.
