VNC screen freezes

Post by nobodyhk »

Hello,

My remote machine is running UltraVNC Server 1.0.9.6, with mirror driver.

After I input credentials on my local machine, I could see the screen of the remote machine. However, the screen "froze" immediately. This "freeze" was not real: When I moved my mouse on my local machine, it also moved on the remote machine accordingly.

Then, I needed to kill the session on my local machine and connected again. This might or might not result in a normal session. If not, another trial would be needed.

Any help will be much appreciated.

You could try turning on "capture alpha blending" and/or disabling the mirror driver. Conversely, double-check that the mirror driver is active.

Thanks B.

Unfortunately the problem remains. Also, sometimes the screen hangs completely upon connection. That means, the movements of the mouse pointer on my local machine are not reflected on the remote machine.

Furthermore, even though I kill the VNC session on the local machine, the icon in the system tray of my remote machine remains in yellow. That is, the client has not been killed.

I am not using UltraVNC client. But it worked previously.

Oh! What client are you using?

I've never found the various VNC's to be extraordinarily compatible. There's basic functionality, but that's about it. At the least, you're probably not going to get the mirror driver to work; I would just turn it off. Did you check whether it was listed as active?

Turning off the mirror driver doesn't help either.

Finally, I uninstalled 1.0.9.6 completely and installed 1.0.8.2. Oh, the sunny day comes back!

Anyway, thanks for your help.

Hello B,

As a matter of fact, I got the same problem on two remote machines running 1.0.9.6. I am therefore wondering the developer may be interested to look into the issue deeper.

read this topic and just replace the two files and be careful about security bit
download to local folder (don't extract from shared folder or network folder, it break most basic VNC functions

Version 1.0.9.5 also runs normally.
