Just checking in...

Post by ich »

I don't see much posted recently so I was just curious how goes the next version of Chunk?
I'm currently compiling Chunk 3.2 with WinVNC.exe from 1.0.9.6 just to see what happens and I was curious what progress has been made for Safe Mode via Chunk.

As always, very large amounts of thanks to SuperCoe and the entire UVNC team for sharing such great stuff!

(will be endeavoring to do some structured testing against "secondary monitor is to the left of the primary" issue, will post back findings)

Lately it has been quiet around here but I take that as a good sign.
Since version 3.2 I've been averaging 3000 downloads a month of ChunkVNC and no one is complaining! :D

Work gets done every so often with continuous dreams of a fully managed InstantSupport always being the goal. I'm not sure when it will happen but some day it will. :D

On the good news front, the VPS I had signed up for before has moved to a much bigger data center in CA. Basically this means free upgrade for me in terms of speed for the cheap price I get it for. I was thinking of using this as a hub for accounts so people could manage multiple InstantSupports from a web console.

I haven't decided where I want this project to go, would it deter people from using ChunkVNC if they had to sign up @ chunkvnc.com and run it from there?

I had a dream that others would donate repeater bandwidth and chunkvnc.com would direct InstantSupport and ChunkViewer to an available repeater. I think this would be a great tool for home users but business users could still run a private repeater if they choose.

I've been doing a lot of php/html/css programming lately for a client and it so far has expanded my knowledge of php enough that I'd like to pursue a web based system like this.

Let me know what you guys think!

Oh yea and please share your 1.0.9.6 multi monitor test results, I've had this in my ChunkVNC dev notes for awhile under TODO. :P

I promise I'll work on ChunkVNC when the weather stops being to awesome for four wheeling!
