Approx 2 years ago I evaluated UltraVNC and found it necessary to adjust the firewall rules resp. setup a NAT port forwarding to enable a connection.
This is not comfortable for most users. So I switched over to TeamViewer
where this is not necessary due to a "broker server" in the middle.
Now I visited again UltraVNC to check new features in most recent release.
Is this problem solved meanwhile?
Does UltraVNC offer now a way to establish a connection WITHOUT having to change something in firewall or NAT port forwarding?
Thank you
Thomas

Does UltraVNC offer a "broker server"? Or firewall adjustm.?
Re: Does UltraVNC offer a "broker server"? Or fire
As you've figured out, to do so ALWAYS requires some kind of 3rd party server to manage, initiate, or relay the connection so that both NATted endpoints can communicate.
Personally I couldn't trust a "free" server to always be available -- UltraVNC has no revenue stream other than site ads as far as I know.
That said, there was an old "NAT2NAT" project that did what you want, and the UltraVNC developer has just restarted it:

You can also use the UltraVNC Repeater to maintain your own "broker server", though that relays traffic rather than merely maintaining the connection. The ChunkVNC project includes a copy of the repeater.
(I just use LogMeIn Free; it works well.)
