how to use ultravnc behind a broadband router (Linksys) ?

Post by Sam45 »

Hello,
I'm french, sorry for my english!

I'd like to connect at 2 PCs (at my father's home, 300 Kms from me) which are behind a router Linksys.
I dont know how to do that.
Ultravnc viewer and server are installed on each PC.
I know my father's Internet IP : 82.xxx.xxx.xxx
also the Ip adress of the router : 192.168.1.1
and IPs of the 2 PCs : 192.168.1.101 and 102

The router is configured like that :
Port 5900 TCP open for 192.168.1.101 and 102
Port 80 TCP/UDP open for 192.168.1.101 and 102

Do I have all informations to connect ?
How do I put these informations in the Ultravnc viewer ? :|

Port forwarding, not openeing
Check
http://www.dslwebserver.com/
Step-by-step
They describe the forwarding for linksys routers.

Sorry, the ports are "forwarded" not "opened".
So it's ok, but I still can't use the viewer through the router.

How can I do ?
Thank you for your help and answers.

Your Father's router IP: 82.xxx.yyy.zzz:

Your father has 2 PCs behind this router.
So you have to discriminate the 2 PCs to be able to connect to them separatly:

PC1: 192.168.1.101
Run WinVNC on it with default port settings (5900)
On the router, open the Port 5900 TCP open for 192.168.1.101
Then, to connect with the viewer from the internet use this adress:
82.xxx.yyy.zzz (or equivalent: 82.xxx.yyy.zzz::5900)

PC2: 192.168.1.102
Run WinVNC on it and change the used listening port in WinVNC property page: for instance use 5901 or 5902. Let's say 5902.
On the router, open the Port 5902 TCP open for 192.168.1.102
Then, to connect with the viewer from the internet use this adress:
82.xxx.yyy.zzz::5902

You have to add the same kind of redirections if you also plan to use http viewer connection
Ports 5800 for PC1 and 5802 for PC2

Please send me a private message if you want more details, I can answer you in french.
