UltraVNC not responding to my password
I have three computers working fine with UltraVNC on my LAN, however the fourth computer has an issue. No matter what password I enter in the server program or in unvc-settings.exe it will not be accepted. My connection to this computer goes perfectly, and I get the password prompt, but the password is not accepted.
I uninstalled version 1.0.8.2 by uninstalling, erasing the UltraVNC folder and reinstalling. That did not fix it. I then tried installing 1.0.6.0 and the same problem persists.
Once I was able to get the password to connect by using the number "100", and everything seemed fine, I then changed the password to something more secure using UNVC-Settings and any new password I chose would not work. I went back to using "100" but this time I could not get the password to be accepted. I tried using "100" in the server exe password input box too, and it did not work either.
Any ideas on what is going on would be appreciated. Thanks for any help.

Re: UltraVNC not responding to my password
vnc password = full control
view only = view only
if you can't enter password, is because your are in view only mode forced by server in case there both password are same !

Re: UltraVNC not responding to my password
On this computer, a password will not work. We have diffrerent passwords for full control and view only. We have uinstalled and reinstalled. We place a new password in uvnc_settings.exe which accepts it, however when we look at the server's password we see that it still has the same number of stars as an old password that is unknown at this time. The password always reverts back to this.
The other computers seem to accept a password change without difficulty. Is there a registry entry that we need to remove to get rid of the old unknown password?
Thanks

Re: UltraVNC not responding to my password
ultravnc 1.0.8.2 don't use registryhowever when we look at the server's password we see that it still has the same number of stars as an old password that is unknown at this time. The password always reverts back to this.
stop uvnc_service
start uvnc_settings.exe as run as administrator is required.
otherwise, password is not saved !

All programs are being run under administrator, yet it will not save a password.

Re: UltraVNC not responding to my password
Hello,
I'm having the same issue as Doug Vernier was. I think I have set the same password for Full Control and View Only in the Admin settings of the VNC Server. I need to change this so that they are two different passwords. However when I try to change it, and press okay, it somehow reverts back to the old password or some default password which I don;t know. I can't get it to accept the new password I'm giving it.
Any ideas on what could be happening here?
I have tried starting VNC as a program rather than a service, but the password still appears to be reverting back to an older password or a default password.
Thanks!
Tanya
Running: Ultra VNC 1.0.8.2 & Windows 7

Re: UltraVNC not responding to my password
stop uvnc_service or/and close winvnc
delete ultravnc.ini
start winvnc (application mode)
set password correctly... OK
close winvnc and start service uvnc_service

Re: UltraVNC not responding to my password
Tanya,
Redge's method is the way we got the password to change. I do not recall deleting the ini. But, you have to stop the service (blue icon.) It's been a while, but I believe we used the UVNC_settings.exe program to change the password, because changing the password through the program didn't seem to work.

Re: UltraVNC not responding to my password
Thanks for your help guys.
It actually seems to be working right now, not sure exactly how, but yesterday I did try and change the password with VNC running as an application instead of a service, so maybe that worked. I'm going to wait and see if it keeps working before trying your suggestions - I'm scared I'll do something to make it stop working!
Thanks again, I really appreciate your time.
