Change Repeater Ports

Hi,

What file do I edit to change the repeater ports? I put the port numbers I would like to use in after running the compiler.exe but it looks like that only changes the instantsupport settings?

The computer is running c++ 2008, not 2005, is that okay?

When I run the compile I see two pop ups do you want to run "xyz.exe" (I think I see the .au3" files) during the compile process and I assume this is for creating the instantsupport and the viewer files?

I believe it is set in the compile.exe when you compile it. If you want to change it, you have to recompile both the viewer and server modules.


On a related topic, can someone definatly confirm if the repeater will run on 443 SSL port BUT without SSL support. Purely for the bypassing most outgoing basic firewall connections.

I know there are firewalls that check the traffic on the SSL 443 to see if it is actual SSL traffic.

Assuming that is the case is it safe to assume the standard repeater can monitor what ever port you want as long as you port forward via the router.

But if you want SSL tunnelling so that the traffic is encapulated in a SSL stream and hence transparent to those picky firewalls, then a special version of the repeater is need???

I have read too much info and dont know whats what now. LOL

Norton internet security, mc afee total protection, AVG internet security, bitdefender, kaspersky intezrnet security... all of there protection are passed just by using 443 port for the server to the repeater. Standard repeater

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you, I've been busy.
If you are running the Windows repeater and you double click the tray icon you will see the the repeater log window. In the menu bar click Options->Settings and you'll be able to change the repeater ports. This isn't clear in the instructions and I've made a note to make this easier to understand. Don't forget that you must exit the repeater and start it again before the settings are reloaded.

The repeater will run on port 443 and as Yod4z has stated it will allow you better access through various security software and firewalls. This is not a perfect solution as it will not actually encrypt the traffic with SSL. Hopefully SSL support will be ready for the next release.
