Viewer Switch Mode option

Post by gardavis »

The first time I used ChunkVNC and the viewer (inside my LAN), I had to add the router entry to open port 5901. Then I realized this was not necessary because there was a hidden option to switch from using my dns to using my lan IP. This is mentioned in the [topic=26843]3.2 release notes[/topic]:
Updated ChunkViewer to include a LAN mode to get around routers that don't support loopback connections. You can switch modes by right clicking the ID combobox. The mode will retain it's previous setting.
and also in the online documentation but not the Installation Guide pdf file that was part of the Zip file.

My suggestion is to not hide the option which without the info in the guide is pretty well hidden. Perhaps a checkbox would be a better way. The setting of the checkbox could be initialized based on a connectivity check of the port (if possible) or last manual setting.

Thanks,
Gary Davis

It was a late night last night getting everything put together for release, I guess I must have edited the website after making the .pdf :O

Documentation always seems more difficult than the programming. :P
