IP address configuration on the server side

Post by tigro11 »

in my computer I use a static WAN IP, the mask compiler entered my WAN address of my viewer.

When I go to run the server gives me id to enter, I go to the viewer side, insert id, but does not connect.
ports I use are 5500 5900.
viever written out on the vnc server port ID id puts me quote.
and just this setup?
I state that everything works with SC.
Is there a configuration to be used without a repeater?

Thanks

What machine do you have the repeater running on? As far as i can tell it need to have a repeater, but that repeater can be on the same machine as the viewer.

I do not use any repeater. My machine has a fixed ip ago by viewer, while the others call my WAN address which then redirects to my router to my internal machine.
works with SC

Yeah, but this is designed to call home and pull a session number to display. When you call in(server) does it give you a number in the box? Both the server and the viewer are looking for a 3rd party to make the connection.

If your wanting to just do a direct connect, you could use PChelpware. It does do direct connect.

Is there a reason you don't want to run the repeater? I have just kept the repeater running on my machine. That should make chunk vnc work for you. Just turn on the repeater on your machine and chunk should start working as long as your port forwarding is working. it doesn't use much resources.

the user side is set ([Repeater] Address = 79.38.xxx.xxx: 5500)
on the viewer and set [Repeater] Address = 79.38.xxx.xxx: 5900
should not automatically call the client side to my viewer is left waiting?

Thanks

PS: it works with scprompt

try this. Open the bin file for your viewer, find chunkviewer.ini and edit it. You should see a line like the one below. Change that IP to your internal ip address for your repeater. See if it will connect. Chances are your router is not letting you loop back.

[Repeater]
Address=10.1.xxx.xxx:5901

Wow, a lot of info here.

Basically it's not going to work the way tigro11 wants it to with a direct connection.

The installation guide must be followed exactly for ChunkVNC to work correctly.

tigro11,

Sorry but ChunkVNC does not work this way it requires the repeater.

You'll have to use another project such as SCPrompt.

The connection speed varies with different network configurations, you'll just have to try both and see yourself.

did you edit the viewer to your Lan ip address? I know this works. I just remoted into a virtual session on my own computer from my computer.

does your sc use the same ports your trying to use with chunk?
Have you verified that you can reach the ports needed from the outside(telnet to the ports from an external network)?
How are you testing the connection? Are you trying to connect to 2 computers that is inside your LAN?
Have you tried compiling a new viewer and instant support with the lan address instead(for testing purposes)
Have you tried turning off your firewall to see if it's the issue?
Can you ping your external ip address from the computer your trying to use as the instant support file from(ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:server port #)?

and everything is ok
I tell you that this works if I put as a parameter
Address = repeater03.ultravnc.info: 5900
without having to run the repeater on the machine viever.
I wanted to have a direct connection without going through the repeater03

It's not going to work without a repeater somewhere. this will not work direct connect. That is not how this is designed to work.

When you run the repeater on your machine and then try to connect to it with the instantsupport.exe, do you get a new log in your repeater folder? For every connection that is made from instantsupport.exe you will see a corresponding file appear in the folder. If you are getting these files created then the issue is between your viewer and your repeater. If not then the instant support is not making it to the repeater.exe.

If you are dead set to do this direct connect, then you want to use the program i linked to below. There are instructions for how to set it up direct connect.
