[SOLVED] vncviewer.exe has encountered a problem and needs

Post by bamim2 »

I have the current version of UltraVNC installed on a host & 2 client computers, all are running Windows XP Pro with all current SP & patches. When I try to log in to one of the clients, I get the following message:

"vncviewer.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry..."

It happens about 95% of the time. Most times once it happens it doesn't matter how many times I try to log in, I keep getting the same message & can't log in. Sometimes it will happen once, then it will work when I try the next time. Once in a while it doesn't happen at all. I have tried Uninstalling UltraVNC & removing everything from the registry on both computers, then rebooting & installing it again. I still have the problem.

The client that this happens to most is a laptop in a docking station that is basically a "headless client" (has no monitor). Is there anything I need to set in the registry or some configuration that I can do to fix this problem?

I have little or no problems with the other PC that is running UltraVNC. I love VNC & us it all the time. It is an indispensable tool on my home network. THANK YOU!

Will do. Thanks. Can I install it over the current one or do I have to remove the old version first?

Thanks. I installed the new one & that fixed my problem. I wish everything in life was that easy to resolve. I guess it's all a matter of asking the right person...

THANK YOU.
PS. Do I need to mark this as "Resolved" or "Closed" or anything?
