Spiking on File Transfer

Post by PaulW »

(supercoe of Chunkvnc recommended I post this question here.)

I performed a file transfer yesterday of a 1 Gig 7z compressed file and it took about 1 hour. I use Bitmeter to monitor my bandwidth and the transfer rate would spike to around 250 Kb/s for about 1 sec and drop right back to 0 Kb/s for 2-3 sec and keep repeating this process. Any ideas why this is happening?

I'm using the ChunkVNC_3_1 download, the repeater (part of the Chunkvnc package) is a on a separate XP machine using the NO-IP service.

As a related question; would using the winvnc.exe (UltraVNC 1.0.8.0 FULL) and doing a recompile fix this particular issue?

After the computer has run for 10 minutes, a huge spike in
the page file usage history occurs (normally from 100-200
Mb to 1.0 Gb). Also it begins to run the CIDAEMON.EXE
process with a huge memory usage (abourt
links of london bracelets. This
occurs every time the computer is rebooted, whether the
computer is idle or running programs.

Does anyone know how to remedy this problem?

Thanks.
