I just recently started playing with the various connection settings, but soon figured out that it´d be a hell easier if I knew what they actually are or do
So my question is: is there any additional FAQ or explanation that describes the various settings ?
And if not, what are the 'best' (I know, it´s always hard to answer such questions...) compression method (or what are the advantages/disadvantages of the different compression methods)
Or (that should be easy to answer ), which one do you use or which one would you recommend me to use on a ~600/128 kbps connection ?
thanks a lot !

Compresstion and connection settings
Hello.
my favorite settings are:
1. for everyday use
ZRLE Encoding
Zlib Compression Level 5 (or 6)
8-bit Color
CopyRect Encoding
Cache Encoding
Track remote cursor locally to control
Don't show remote cursor to watch
Server screen scaling for further speed
2. for complex images
Tight Encoding
Zlib Compression Level 6
Full Color
CopyRect Encoding
Cache Encoding
JPEG Quality 0
Track remote cursor locally to control
Don't show remote cursor to watch
NO Server screen scaling(crashes viewer)
ZRLE generally seems faster than the others only except
in the case with complex photo-type full color image.
Tight+JPEG could show it faster. still not always though...
here's my method to find fastest settings:
1. connect 2 viewers
2. change the viewer settings what you want to compare
3. make action and feel speed difference
4. go to 2
a best setting depends on connection speed/latency, and
maybe also CPU power. for example, Zlib level 1 looks
better than 6, to P4 2.8 XVGA PC on my LAN connection.
thank you.

Thanks for the reply, I must have missed this one a reaallly looonng time ago
Ok, will try those settings.
However, I'd still be interested in what the (theoretical) differences of the various settings are.
IMO this would really very well fit to the FAQ, and more users would benefit of those settings if they knew what they do.
Or is auto-config that good so there's no point in manual tweaking anyway?
