File Transfer Security

Post by Guest »

I've noticed on several screenshots that there is a File Transfer checkbox when defining security for a user using the newest ms logon security.

I've never seen it on my own systems. I only have "Full Control", "Interact", and "View".

Is this not supported or am I missing a dependancy?

Thanks!

The FT checkbox on this screenshots was "vaporware", i.e. there was no functionality implemented.
I just played around with the (then) new possibilities regarding access rights.

The ACL (Access Control List) used for MS-Logon II could be used for defining further rights (like File Transfer), but this would require some coding effort.

Feel free to put it on the wishlist if you think this could be a valuable feature.
(But in my opinion we first should have version 1.0 out before implementing anything new.)

Since RC19.5, there's a new functionality called "FT User Impersonation":

UltraVNC User's rights on the remote filesystem (server) are the ones of the logged in user.

Typically:
- UltraVNC server must be run as a service
- Users must log into Windows on the UltraVNC server once connected with the viewer (with or without MSLogon)
- A non logged-in user has no access to the server FileSystem
- A logged-in user has the access rights to the remote filesystem corresponding to the actual remote-windows user rights.

We still have to see how we could merge this with MSLogon.

@redge I meant an ACL like the authentication method used for the MS-LOGON. So create a group in the AD and set the properties for allowing or denying acces to file transfer and chat features.

Hey!

Recently, at least 2 PCs I've installed UVNC, when I try tu use the File Tranfer, I got an error: file tranfer is disabled in the remote machine" os something like that, I am sure that its enabled, its possible that versions diferences causes this?
The server runs XP Pro, I tried to configure the VNC Server to run as administrator, that is not the actual user, file tranfer doesnt works, then configured to run as actual user unchecking the virus protection as before, same problem w/ file transfer. somebody can say what I am possible forgetting?
