I am able to login locally using http://192.168.1.100:5800/.
But when I use http://real_ip_address:5800 I get this.
"This unit is password protected
Please enter the correct password to access the web pages"
and when I enter my password on this screen it just comes back to the same screen.
I have forwarded 5800,5900 in the router.

Can't login.
Is the window you see when connecting to it via the ip address the same window you see when on your internal lan?
If it isnt then you arent connecting properly for some reason or another.
If it is, then you are connecting properly and the ports are forwarded correctly.
Are you doing this from your internal lan to your public IP address to test? Depending on your router you may not be able to test it this way.
and last but not least you are not using the DSM plugin correct?

Thanks for responding.
I figured out what happened. I just installed a VOIP modem in front of the router. It was intercepting traffic - it's screen is what I was seeing.
I've now installed the VOIP device after the router.
Yes I was testing from the internal LAN to the public IP. I am not using the DSM plugin.
Now I'm able to connect with the viewer both locally and remotely.
But I get a gray box in IE. I'm suspecting I have a wrong or old version of Java. Is this true?
Thanks for the help.
Jay
