Yes, that is how I have my setup configured. I basically wanted to make it as simple as possible and the DIRECT option achieves that.

However, in order to make it work on reboot you have to have the executable restart automatically. You can do that by putting it in the "Startup" folder but if they have a password set up to log onto their computer in Admin mode then you have to have it start up as a service which is not as straight forward and opens up other issues

Self Extracting UltraVNC with encryption

Post by jdog »

If you use NSIS (Nullsoft Installer) it is possible to create a self extracting UltraVNC .exe that will connect to a predefined listening UltraVNC server.

UltraVNC already does that. That is the whole point of this software. What we are talking about is rebooting and automatically reconnecting to an existing remote session.

Requires Java which in my book knocks it completely off the useful list, thats a lot of overhead for a simple connection.

Only the operator use java to obtain the code, is not used to make the connection with the client. With the code is not necessary to use dymanic dns service for example.
Soon we will integrate vncviewer to make a connection using java, since he is faster at the time of acceding the computer.
Sorry for my english

File Transfer SC

Make sure you are using UltraVNC RC19 on your computer. They had to rewrite the file transfer in RC19 and SingleClick is based off of RC19. So that is why the file transfer in SingleClick does not work with servers that use earlier versions of UltraVNC.

I Have Tried new ver 1.0.0 then back to 19.5 but still no file transfer, hangs and thats it. Can anyone advise???

For the reconnect issue after reboot (regardless of password) there is http://www.helpdeskvnc.com/modules/trial/ this trial version works pretty good so far. You can request the ip/url you'd like the pc to go and the port number. They'll customize a version of VNC but their cost is $89. The only thing that I don't like is that you can't change the IP/URL you'll have to have them do it for you. So far the SC work pretty good except for the reboot part. I hear there's a Anysrv.exe file part of windows NT resource kit that can make the file into a service. Unfortunatly I don't have the kit and I've had trouble finding it online (even Microsoft's site). If anyone knows where it can be found please let me know.
