A bit more info is needed to properly help.

Are you over the inet or Lan?
XP SP2 / 1 or other firewall?
What version of UVNC are you using?

This could be a port/firewall issue since it works one way but not in the reverse..

Thanks for the reply, well we thought that too, but we compareed my pc setting againt his and are the same. We thought that if it was a port problem it wouldn't work either way? we use the rc 11d when we do it the regular way. We have used this before and just when we use it . The trouble is :
When my server up and his viewer in listen mode, I invite
him to me and it connects showing my IP but his screen black
and reads Please wait-initial screen loading......
He can move the mouse and I see it just his screen ics black??
Milt

Ps we both have xp SP2

we are on broadband internet, remembering we have had this working in the past??

It would work one way but not the other - for example if the person with portforwarding set up is listening then it will work properly, the one without the port forwarding set up wouldnt work.. however I guess the initating connection would NOT come up if the port wasnt forwarded properly. either way on to your problem.

Okay so your using version RC11d, any reason not to upgrade to at least RC18? The upgrade from 11 to 18 there is a driver stipulation so if you dont want to find it (cuz I cant remember it) just uninstall RC11d then install fresh rc18. Try again see if it still gives you problems?

Since you said it worked before, assuming you mean the RC11d version and exact same setup, the only difference would be XP SP2. Or any other firewalls for that matter. Would you appease the idea of turning off both firewalls and seeing if that helps? Then turning them on one by one on each end... of course if it doesnt work when its off no sense in continuing the troubleshooting. If not how bout entertaining the idea of upgrading but keep in mind there is a driver issue from RC11 to 18 unless the devs fixed it.. I think its for the video but not sure.

thanks for the reply, it is blowing my mind. Cause like I said it works to a point, when I have my Server running and he has his viewer in listen mode. I invite him and it appears to allow him in. His mouse controlls my pc. The only thing is his screen is black and he can't see what my ciurser is doing. Yet if he stops it on one of my icon he can open it, just can't see it????
Thanks again Milt

SOLVED THIS PROBLEM?

I can't explain why but my brother as a last hope changed his router, With the new router all works. But I still don't knnow why if the router was bad why would it work all? but it did except this:

when I have my Server running and he has his viewer in listen mode. I invite him and it appears to allow him in. His mouse controlls my pc. The only thing is his screen is black and he can't see what my ciurser is doing. Yet if he stops it on one of my icon he can open it,he just can't see it????

But the bottom line is it all working now.

Anyway thanks for all the replies, and we are happy again. Bythe way we both have the new Rc 19. but I left my RC11 on and it works for my son's PC. He doesn't need the listen viewer. One client has security and would't let me in but now he can invite me with my listen viewer on. Thanks again Milt
