Android viewer! with Secure plugins!
Android viewer! with Secure plugins!
Any chance? guys?
Android needs this!
Android needs this!
Re: Android viewer! with Secure plugins!
I don't have an android device but I've seen a few vnc viewers already:

Re: Android viewer! with Secure plugins!
Tried that. have it on my phone.
doesnot connect to UltraVNC, nor does it support the secure DSM plugins (or anysecure plugins at all...)

Re: Android viewer! with Secure plugins!
Is using the Javaviewer over https a reasonable fallback?
Re: Android viewer! with Secure plugins!
could be - but does the securevnc plugin work over the javaviewer?B wrote:Is using the Javaviewer over https a reasonable fallback?
Re: Android viewer! with Secure plugins!
I don't know (though I don't think so).
In fact, I may be making the same mistake I have in the past, assuming that https would mean the Javaviewer is secured -- but I think that may be wrong, and that while the Java app would be delivered over https, the RFB communication would actually take place unencrypted over the regular port 5900, rather than the Javaviewer "delivery" port of 5800?
Apparently xvnc has an https Javaviewer option, but I don't know if UltraVNC does?

Re: Android viewer! with Secure plugins!
dunno but I'd love some way to check my UVNC with my android !
Re: Android viewer! with Secure plugins!
Top? anyone?
Re: Android viewer! with Secure plugins!
bigjohn,
Please don't bump feature requests without letting a significant amount of time pass. The developers are hard at work on the next release of UltraVNC and although an Android viewer would be great I'm sure it's low on the the list of things to complete right now.

The Android-Vnc-Viewer is NOW SUPPORTING UltraVNC too !
I've tried it on a 80$ cheap android tablet pc, and it's working perfectly, even with 24bit.
Tech. details:
=========
- you don't even need market on your android to make it work, simply download it, and install the APP (even from an SD card).
- I've used VirtualBOX to create a windowsXP guest mashine, resized to 800x480, installed UltraVNC server.
So I was able to use it on native resolution.
- The Viewer should be able to use resizing too, so there are more possibilities to view bigger screen resolutions too.
The problems I had:
=============
- an interesting case is the right-click on android > usually it's double click. So it's almost impossible to make a real double-click.
- the view-menu did not appear, so could not change any setting after connections was made
The only way to quit the viewer was:
1. choose "disconnect clients" from the server-site menu icon, or
2. turn off wireless on the android device (with power button) so the connection aborted.
- OpenGL could not be seen (but this is a VirtualBOX video driver + VNC capture problem on the server side)
Re: Android viewer! with Secure plugins!
How did you get this to work? I'm connected to my office's internal wireless network via my Droid X and all I get is "VNC connection failed!" when I try to connect. I'm using UltraVNC 1.0.8.2 and I'm leveraging Active Directory authentication to avoid the easy VNC password hack, which is primarily why I went w/ UltraVNC over Tight or Real, in addition to built-in file transfer. Is there something I need to set in the server settings of UltraVNC to get the Android VNC Client to work w/ UVNC?
EDIT: I should note that there is a VNC viewer that works with UltraVNC for the Android platform called In-Hand VNC. It's a touch limited in some ways, but it's pretty slick and would work for quick interventions, which is mostly what I'd be doing at the office. However, it's a paid app. Given that the VNC product line has been free for so long, who wants to pay for VNC access anyway?
Seriously, though, it'd be nice to have a natively developed UVNC implementation on the Android platform so those of us who support users remotely have a means with which to do that when we can't get to a PC.

Re: Android viewer! with Secure plugins!
worked fine with androidVNC, but DSM is very lacking
very sorry for my French...
Re: Android viewer! with Secure plugins!
It works fine on my spam-Thunderbolt (VZ).
This is how I connect to the machine, from outside my local network.
ssh user@gateway-machine (using ConnectBot app)
Set port forwarding on ConnectBot app
-- local
-- 5900
-- Remote
-- remote-machine:5900
Works very well.
It sometimes seem to have screen refresh issues.

This thread is over a year old and has become a magnet for dimwitted spammers pretending to be humans ("I have the android and it works great"); locking it up.
