Monitor blanking issue - custom BG image shows on BOTH!

Post by kosmokramer »

Hello,

I have v1.0.8.2 server running on 64-bit Windows 7 box. I'm using the latest viewer on my Win XP 32-bit box.

When I first "blanked" the clients monitor, I noticed the big ugly eye on his screen (which worked properly, at least). I thought it would be better to use a custom image that says "Please standby while your system administrator works on your computer..."

So I made the image and put it in the UltraVNC directory. Low and behold, the next time I "blanked" the client's monitor, both he AND I saw that image. It's a problem because when both of our screens are blanked, I can't help them!!

I've read a few other threads, and it seems similar to these reported issues:

[topic=14838][/topic] (similar, except this user appeared to have that issue with the "eye" iteself)

Would really appreciate your help in resolving this - what a great product!

The trick used to display a local image and hide it remote is to
put it as top layer and capture the bottom layer.

Aero, merge top and bottom layer
win7 + aero -> visable remote

workaround: also select disable aero as option.
If aero id disabled, all layers are back seperate and you can capture to bottom without the top...

No fix possible, aero mix all layers internal before displaying it on screen.
