Wake when put into sleep

Post by philfromwaterbury »

I can not get my computer to wake after I put it into sleep mode.

This is both when I access my network from outside my router or when I am working within the network.

I have windows 7.
I have the power settings for the lan card at "moderate power savings"

Is there a way to wake my machine? Am I missing something?

Does Ultravnc send a magic packet to Wol?
Or do I need a speacial program to do that?

I don't think so, but there are like a zillion free utilities that will do it.

For what it's worth, the iTalc distribution (intended for classrooms and based on, I think, TightVNC) includes WOL functionality.
