Hi All,
I use TalkTalk's broadband service which works fine for me. Using my old 3Com router, Chunk VNC works perfectly. However, when I try to use the TalkTalk supplied D-Link or Huawei routers, no luck at all. Always the "Failed to connect to the server" message. The port forwarding is correctly set up and I have tried with all firewalls, antivitus, etc, disabled, but still no luck so I'm using my old 3Com router.
I want to get the the bottom of this weird issue. The D-Link and Huawei routers used ADSL2 modulation. I can't find what the 3Com uses, maybe just ADSL? Could this be the issue?
Anyone any ideas?
Regards
Gary

Chunk VNC+TalkTalk Broadband+Routers problem
Re: Chunk VNC+TalkTalk Broadband+Routers problem
Interesting issue, I'd say the problem was with port forwarding but it could be another issue.
I've seen some routers fail miserably at port forwarding, make sure you have the latest firmware installed and do a factory reset.
Have you tried testing with one of the Ready to Run versions which utilize a public repeater? This way you can narrow down that it's just the port forwarding that isn't working.

Re: Chunk VNC+TalkTalk Broadband+Routers problem
Hi Supercoe,
I have tried the D-Link router with the RTR (Swiss) version of CHUNK VNC and it works fine.
Could the problem be with the settings of the repeater? How can I check this?
Regards
Gary

This means that the port forwarding to your repeater isn't working or something else is blocking incoming connections to your WAN IP.
Triple check the router settings.
Triple check the router settings.

Re: Chunk VNC+TalkTalk Broadband+Routers problem
Broadband is a catch all term that really means high speed data IP network access, or Internet access if you prefer. But consider that the Internet is a network of networks, when you connect to a broadband service provider your just connecting to their network, their network connects to other networks - which is what becomes the Internet.
