Change Windows Themes --> CRash or Hand VNC Server

Post by Davatar »

When a connection to a client (SmartCode Solutions ActiveX or VNC VIewer) is open, changing the windows theme from e.g. classic to standard causes the VNC Server to hang. In this case, the theme change also needs about 30 seconds to complete.

The only way to get around this is by killing the winvnc.exe and restarting it.

This occurs on Windows XP, and Windows 7. Using a LAN.

one of our developers has found the problem. It is a deadlock issue. Please use the following fixed file in future releases.

This is vncdesktopthread.cpp

Code: Select all

#include "vncdesktopthread.h"
#include "vncOSVersion.h"
bool g_DesktopThread_running;
bool g_update_triggered;
DWORD WINAPI hookwatch(LPVOID lpParam);
extern bool stop_hookwatch;
extern CDPI g_dpi;

inline bool

	    int cx, int cy, int cw, int ch) {
  if (*x < cx) {
    *w -= (cx-*x);
    *x = cx;
  }
  if (*y < cy) {
    *h -= (cy-*y);
    *y = cy;
  }
  if (*x+*w > cx+cw) {
    *w = (cx+cw)-*x;
  }
  if (*y+*h > cy+ch) {
    *h = (cy+ch)-*y;
  }
  return (*w>0) && (*h>0);
