Instructions on setting up SC to work through a repeater?

Post by Zakabog »

I'm trying to setup SC to work through a repeater. The setup currently is one server that we've got port forwarding going to, we want this server to act as the repeater and we've got two tech machines to use as viewers. I want people to be able to run the custom SC and establish a connection to one of the two tech machines based on which technician they select on the client. I'm not quite sure how to do that or where to even find information on that, or if that's even the proper way of doing things (what do I setup on the tech machines? How does the SC know which tech machine to connect to?)

The ChunkVNC project is intended to address this, on an ad-hoc basis.

The SCPrompt project allows more robust presets (e.g., click here to reach Agent #2).

Both support repeaters, and ChunkVNC bundles a copy.

Usually, the UltraVNC viewer knows which target to reach based on matching repeater IDs (a numeric string) that both the Viewer and the Server register with the repeater.

Be careful to avoid using UltraVNC 1.0.8.2 (the latest version) if you expect your servers to stay connected to the repeater for long periods of time without a corresponding viewer present. It doesn't work. You can replace 1.0.8.2 with 1.0.8.0. This is more or less a 'drop in' fix with ChunkVNC. I described it at [post=71077][/post] and [topic=18016][/topic]
