Connected but can do nothing

Post by mareq133 »

Can anyone point me to or gather all possible Cases of how the Server and Viewer can behave and why....Please
----------------------------------------------------
I have generated rc4.key, swapped icons and logo.bmp

[HOST]
company name
-connect StaticIP:5500 -noregistry

[HOST]
company name
-plugin -connect StaticIP:5500 -noregistry

Port 5500 forwarded from router to laptop 192.168.0.110 - where i am running viewer (Win7)

server is tested on PC(Vista) and laptop(XP), both in LAN IPs: 103, 107

I have done about 40 tests and these are the results

------------------ Case 1---------------
- When I am not running VNC Viewer on viewer laptop the SC running on the SERVER laptop has bubble 'trying to connect ,5 minutes blah blah'. after few minutes it turns off itself because it did not connect anywhere. Hurray, I guess this is supposed to happen.
-------------------Case 2---
-Viewer not running
- server running - bubble 'trying to connect ' appears
- I am turning on viewer by CMD C:\Program Files (x86)\UltraVNC\vncviewer -listen -dsmplugin MSRC4Plugin.dsm
- Viewer settings cannot be modified (rightclick is disabled on tray icon) now because it thinks that something is trying to connect or already connected to him
- Server bubble is saying that now computer is visible to other computer, - Both think that they are connected

Success??? - So both thinks that they are connected, but viewer is not giving me any window that i could actually see the server desktop or do anything.

---------------------Case 3- (happened twice or 3 times) ---
After situation in Case 2 I have small prompt on viewer laptop to enter the password....
- What password????
I did not setup any password anywhere,
I typed in anything and nothing happens
------------------------ Case 4 (happened once or twice)---
After situation in Case 2 - after few minutes the server has disconnected itself.
Second later i got prompt on the viewer that other computer (Name, Ip etc,) is trying to connect to Viewer.
I click OK , and nothing happens, Because the server VNC is already switched off.
------------------- Case 5 ---
Viewer is running
When i start server it blinks with small window and goes straight to tray. So I cannot choose which host i want to connect to.

Why there is so big inconsistency? Why so many different screens that does not explain what has gone wrong?
-----------------------
And lastly why it cannot be teamviewer way:
- launch teamviewer> it gives: login1 and password1
- launch teamvierwer on 2nd comp: enter login1 and password1

Yes it is not Single Click (it is a few keys and Single Click more) but WORKS like charm

perhaps you're launching the viewer incorrectly?

"C:\Program Files\UltraVNC\vncviewer.exe" -listen 5500

or perhaps, because you have a 64-bit operating system, you have the wrong version installed? my viewer isn't located in my Program Files (x86) folder, it's located in the Program Files folder. I do have a 64-bit O/S as well.
