Can't seem to get this working and could really use some help...
The log appears to be accepting connections, but the viewer/server never connects. Here's the message from the repeater log:
accept() connection
Reading Proxy settings erro
Server added to list 570965
recv 39
accept() connection
Viewer added to list 570965
ID added 570965
connection closed by peer
Server Removed from list 570965
Viewer removed from list 570965
There are no "peers" closing any connections ( I'm in control of both these computers behind 2 different routers/firewalls)
What am I doing wrong?

problem: server running as application/proxy settings erro
Re: problem: server running as application/proxy settings e
Interesting, it seems like you've done your port forwards correctly being that both the server and viewer connect to the repeater.
Try one of the ChunkVNC Ready to Run versions to make sure it isn't just a problem with your repeater setup:

More info would be great, is the repeater on the same LAN as the viewer? operating systems? etc...

Re: problem: server running as application/proxy settings e
Thanks for the reply Supercoe. I appreciate your help...
I've done some fiddling with WAN. Switched the Viewer ports/forwards, etc and strangely discovered that sometimes it connects, sometimes it doesn't, sometimes it connects then crashes...and there doesn’t seem to be any common/repetitive reason for it (?!?) When ChunkVNC fails/crashes the Viewer's Repeater Log typically displays a "Proxy server erro" and/or the Server pops up with an "Initiate Connection" box (as below)
My info:
1. Viewer/Repeater: on a single Windows 7 machine w PCTools Firewall/Superantispyware/MS Security Essentials (I've edited chunkviewer.ini with the computer's LAN IP)
2. Server: on a single XP machine w Windows Firewall/Avira Antivirus/Superantispyware
3. Server and Viewer are behind different LANs
4. I'm using DynDns for Dynamic DNS
5. FYI - connecting computers inside the LAN works fine when compiling with the Viewer computer's LAN IP address
1. the Viewer appears to be stuck on "negotiate Protocol version"
2. the Server pops up with an "Initiate Connection" box asking for my Host Name and my Connection #
?!?

Re: problem: server running as application/proxy settings e
If possible can you disable or remove PCTools Firewall and MS Security essentials?
At this point in time the issue has to be with either your internet connection or more likely the firewall/security software on your computer.
I just tested both RTR versions and they worked perfect for me with the Windows Firewall and Avira.
The reason you'd get the "Initiate Connection" box is because the UltraVNC server couldn't see the repeater out on the internet so it must be blocked somehow.
Most firewall software allows all LAN traffic which is probably why you're having luck compiling with a LAN IP and using it locally.
Otherwise you seem to have a great grasp on how ChunkVNC works being that you know about editing the .ini files!
Good luck.

Re: problem: server running as application/proxy settings e
K it's definitely NOT a antivirus/antispyware/firewall problem. I tried shutting everything off on both machines...but the same behavior still occurs.
Try 1. Using the RTR version with all antivirus/antispyware/firewalls OFF = sometimes it connects, sometimes it doesn't
Try 2. Using the RTR version with all antivirus/antispyware/firewalls ON = sometimes it connects, sometimes it doesn't
Try 3. Using the regular ChunkVNC with Repeater on Viewer ports 11001/11002 with all antivirus/antispyware/firewalls OFF
VIEWER REPEATER LOG
Repeater for Rel1.0.8 of PcHelpware
socket() initialized
bind() succeded to port 11001
listen() succeded
socket() initialized
bind() succeded to port 11002
listen() succeded
Reading Proxy settings erro
Server added to list 394315
recv 39
recv 0
connection closed by peer
Server Removed from list 394315
Server added to list 394315
recv 39
FYI - sometimes the "Initiate Connection" box pops up on the Server machine, sometimes not...(and I'm not changing anything in the meantime)
Is there a Solution for this?
I'm thinking perhaps it's the router switching the connection on and off....and I don't think it's a Dynamic DNS issue, otherwise the RTR would work 100% of the time.
Any thoughts? Suggestions?

Re: problem: server running as application/proxy settings e
Being that inside your LAN it works fine and testing with known good repeaters results in the connection issues the only conclusion that I can come to is a problem with your internet connection.
Can you give some more info about your internet connection?
Do you have other problems such as a web browser sometimes not being able to reach a page?
VNC seems picky when it comes to connection quality...

Re: problem: server running as application/proxy settings e
Sure
Internet Connection: DHCP
DNS Server: Automatic
Mac Gateway: Automatic
Dynamic DNS: Enabled (configured with DynDNS)
Firewall: Low
Default Gateway: WAN
Host Name: blank
DNS Server: WAN
Domain Name: blank
UPnP: disabled
I've never had problems with the Viewer signal (wireless), but I am piggybacking on a low-mid strength signal for Server internet (wireless).
Question: If you think the problem is the low-mid strength signal, is there any way of testing the connection/program using a web-based utility? (since I can't be in two places at once)
Thanks again for the help

Sorry man, not sure what I can tell you at this point in time, it seems to be a WAN connection issue.
If possible port forward on the server side and just use UltraVNC normally.

Hi Regi
As supercoe initially suggested, can you try uninstalling your firewall/antispyware software. I know you said you turned it off, but for some reason that isn't enough in all cases.
