Clarifying UltraVNC SC online creator update 2009

Post by joaoclobocar »

These are the instructions found for UltraVNC SC online creator update 2009
+Vista+WIN7 support.
+use the MSRC4Plugin.dsm" security plugin
+The zip you upload can contain following files, other are ignored
rc4.key
helpdesk.txt
icon1.ico
icon2.ico
logo.bmp
background.bmp
enter.bmp
UAC: sc is running as user, this does NOT allow UAC access.
-UAC windows are view only. (you now stay connected in view only mode)
-When the UAC window ( not the popup, the one that has the elevated permission) is closed or minized, you get back full access.
Update 27/08/2009, the user is only asked once to give UAC permission ( add [DIS_AUC] )
helpdesk.txt
[DIS_UAC]
I could not understand how to use UAC, -UAC and DIS_UAC.

Can anyone explain me?

Would I have full control on server PC under Vista, Win7?

TIA

UAC = User Account Control in Vista/7

Programs that are run without administrative priveledges will not have access to certain parts of the system.

The [DIS_UAC] command when put into helpdesk.txt will instruct SC to run as administrator which will cause a UAC prompt (Cancel or Allow) to pop up when executed.

If a UAC prompt pops up and SC hasn't been run as administrator you will lose control of that computer.

I don't use SC but I believe you put it as the last line in the helpdesk.txt file.

So, it seems like the [DIS_UAC] entry is for the ENTIRE helpdesk file..is that right? I can't make this setting *only* for a specific connection?

Thanks
